You would think that with all the built-in camera features you would get perfect straight horizons. Well, that’s not quite the case. But no worries, in this tutorial I’ll show you how to fix your horizons.

Luckily for this common problem we have Lightroom to fix it and do all the work. It’s fairly easy and there are two ways to do it. You can manually adjust the horizon or you can let Lightroom adjust it automatically if the horizon is a bit complex.

Let’s take a look.

1. Import Your Photo

Lightroom Classic

First step is always to import the photos you want to edit. RAW photos are ideal.

2. Locate to the Develop Window

Lightroom Classic

Second step is to locate to the ‘Develop’ window. The ‘Develop’ window is where you do all your photo editing.

3. Select the Crop Overlay Tool

Lightroom Classic

The crop overlay tool is what you should use when leveling horizons and cropping photos. The tool placement is shown in the screenshot above.

4. Fine-Tuning Your Photo

Lightroom Classic

For adjusting your horizon you can use the slider or rotate the corners of your photo.

5. Export your photo

Lightroom Classic

The fifth and final step is to export your photo and share on social media!
